In today's competitive market customers set high standards for quality molded, contamination free parts. Controlled contamination levels is a basic concept necessary to establish documented evidence that a process will consistently produce quality parts with a high degree of assurance. High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters are the most common means of controlling contamination with reasonable rates of effectiveness. HEPA filters range in efficiency for 99.997 at 0.5 micron particles to 99.9999% for particles of .12 microns. The HEPA blowers create positive air pressure within the enclosure to prevent introduction of contaminants. The desired class of cleanroom is dependent upon the number of air changes per hour within the enclosure. Limiting the size of the cleanroom facilitates controlling contamination levels from airborne particulate.
